Born in the "Heart of the
Smokies",
Knoxville, Tennessee,
Dana (Scott) Spears
graduated from the
University
of Tennessee
before heading to the
deep south and the
University
of Georgia. She
earned her Ph.D.
from the
University
of Georgia in Child
and
Family Development in 1983. After a stint as
an Assistant Professor of
Child Development
at Lamar
University in Texas,
she returned to
Georgia
to be a child and family counselor at
AlphaCare Therapy Services, Atlanta
where she worked until after her
first child
was born in 1993.
In 1996, her book Strong-Willed Child or Dreamer?,
co-authored with Dr. Ron Braund was published by Thomas Nelson. Dr. Spears has
appeared on television and radio around the country. For fun, she helps
with Cub Scouts and performs in community theater.
A home-school teacher, Dr. Spears is a Licensed Professional Counselor at
A New Start Counseling Center, Inc. in Fayetteville, Georgia and speaks
at seminars for parents, women, singles, couples and home-school and
classroom teachers. She and her husband Phillip have three children and
live outside Atlanta.
Dr. Spear's most recent
project is her new Learning Styles Series for home school parents. She is
working on a Christian school version to be released soon. Click “Where
